Classic Cars & Coffee Perth is Western Australia’s largest regular gathering of classic, exotic and collectable vehicles, held every first Sunday of the month at the University of Western Australia in Crawley. What began as a small monthly meet has grown to become the largest even of its kind in the Sourthern Hemisphere. It is now a genuine Perth institution, drawing hundreds of cars and thousands of enthusiasts each month. Those that attend are not just car “nuts” but families, partners who love a stroll and coffee and curious locals.
The event takes place across the riverside car parks of UWA’s Crawley campus, a heritage setting just minutes from Perth’s city centre and moments from the shores of Matilda Bay. Cars begin arriving from around 8:30am, with owners parking up across 7 of WA’s car parks just as the morning light comes in over the Swan River — earlier arrival is worth it if you want to see the full line-up before the crowds build.
Visitors are free to wander at their own pace between the rows of vehicles, which range from beautifully restored classics through to modern supercars and a dedicated JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) car park. Mobile coffee vendors set up on site throughout the morning, so there’s no need to bring your own thermos — grab a coffee, roam around, and make a morning of it. Owners are, more often than not, happy to talk through the history of their car if you’re curious, and there’s a genuine sense of community among the regulars who come back month after month.
It’s a great outing for families: the grounds are open and easy to walk, there’s plenty to look at for kids of all ages, and well-behaved pets are welcome too. Entry is completely free for spectators and no bookings are required — simply turn up any time between 8:30am and 10:30am on the first Sunday of the month.
Getting there is straightforward: UWA’s Crawley campus is well served by public transport and has ample car parking nearby, with the event spread across seven of the university’s car parks.
