SUMMARY:Performance of Gender exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Performance of Gender \nSolo exhibition by Sarah McBride \nPerformance of Gender explores gender as something performed rather than fixed\, using the experiences and representation of cross-dressers as its central focus. \nDrawing on Judith Butler’s idea that gender is produced through repeated acts and social expectations\, the exhibition considers how clothing\, appearance and behaviour shape the ways gender is recognised and understood. \nFor cross-dressers\, dressing beyond conventional gender expectations can be an expression of identity\, but can also attract scrutiny\, ridicule and discrimination. The exhibition considers what cross-dressing reveals about the performance of gender and the consequences of moving beyond its expected boundaries. \nThrough painting\, collage\, mirrors and sculpture\, Sarah McBride examines the relationship between identity\, the body\, clothing and visibility. \nVenue: Old Customs House\, 8 Phillimore Street\, Fremantle\nDates: 28 October – 11 November 2026\nOpening night: Friday 30 October\, 6.00pm–8.00pm\nArtist talk: Saturday 7 November\, 2.00pm–3.00pm\nExhibition hours: 10.30am–3.30pm\nAdmission: Free — everyone welcome

SUMMARY:Spring Harvest WA
DESCRIPTION:Spring Harvest WA 2026 – Bringing People Together. Changing Lives.\nWhat happens when good people\, local businesses and a simple idea to give back come together? \nYou get Spring Harvest WA. \nSpring Harvest WA is a Western Australian fundraising initiative created to bring people together while raising awareness and financial support for local causes that make a genuine difference in our community. \nFounded by Stewart Bermann\, who has more than 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry\, Spring Harvest grew from a desire to use those connections and experience to give something back. What started with one fundraising event has grown into an annual event supporting a different WA charity each year. \nNow in its second official year\, Spring Harvest WA returns to North Perth Town Hall on Sunday 15 November 2026 from 2pm till 5pm\, with one clear purpose to raise as much as possible for this year’s charity recipient\, PROST! Exercise 4 Prostate Cancer. \nPROST! is a WA-based not-for-profit organisation supporting men living with prostate cancer through evidence-based group exercise\, rehabilitation\, mateship and social connection. Its philosophy is built around three simple but powerful words: Muscle. Mateship. Mood. \nFor many men\, a prostate cancer diagnosis can change almost every part of life. PROST! provides a place where men can keep moving\, build strength\, meet others who understand what they’re going through and find a sense of connection during a difficult time. \nThis year\, Spring Harvest WA has set a fundraising goal of $15\,000 for PROST! The money raised will help support the organisation’s ongoing work\, including specialised exercise and rehabilitation equipment and assistance for men who may otherwise struggle to access exercise programs. \nThe fundraising doesn’t stop at the ticket price. Throughout the afternoon\, guests will have the opportunity to take part in raffles\, silent and live auctions and other fundraising activities\, with local businesses and supporters generously donating goods\, services\, food\, drinks and experiences to help keep the costs of the event low and maximise what can be raised for PROST! \nAnd there’s a little something extra for our ticket holders this year. \nThanks to a very special private donation of two bottles of Grange\, every person who purchases a Spring Harvest WA ticket will automatically go into the draw to win one of the two bottles. \nWith only 120 tickets available\, it’s a pretty special addition to an already great afternoon. \nGuests can expect plenty of good stand-up cocktail style food\, wine\, beer and soft drinks\, live music\, entertainment\, oysters freshly shucked by Jerry Fraser\, raffles\, auctions and the chance to spend an afternoon with a great group of people who believe in giving back to their community. \nThere are only 120 tickets available\, keeping the event intimate and giving guests the opportunity to connect with the people\, businesses and supporters who help make Spring Harvest possible. \nSpring Harvest WA 2026\nSunday 15 November 2026\n2pm–5pm\nNorth Perth Town Hall\n26 View Street\, North Perth \n
