Driver sits in front of their car for 2 hours to prevent it from being towed from clear way

Nobody likes getting their car towed. Equally, nobody likes vehicles parked in clear ways, so while it sucks, they need to be towed out of the way to prevent gridlock.

A set of photos posted to Facebook group Malaka Parking showed one driver in Melbourne settling in for the long haul, sitting themselves between their Mazda CX-30 and a tow truck attempting to tow it to prevent it from being loaded on to the truck.

The picture posted to the group was taken just after 4PM on King Street in Melbourne’s CBD – a notorious hotspot for clear way violators that cause traffic chaos.

Over an hour later another image was posted, which showed the police arriving on horseback.

The same image shows the vehicle’s right hand indicator, headlights and tail lights on. It’s unclear if they managed to be released or whether the vehicle’s alarm was going off as it was being pulled on to the truck.

One user in the Facebook group claimed to previously have been a tow truck driver and that if the tyres weren’t touching the flat bed, the vehicle technically wasn’t impounded.

Either way – we’re sure it was a source of entertainment for anybody watching.
